Arslan Jadoon

LinkedIn isn’t just a social network; it’s your digital passport to the professional world, connecting you with like-minded individuals across diverse industries. Your LinkedIn profile is your virtual business card, offering a snapshot of your identity and capabilities.

Elevating your LinkedIn presence goes beyond mere self-promotion – it’s about forging meaningful connections, fostering engagement, and creating growth opportunities.

If you’re eager to take your LinkedIn game to the next level, buckle up as we discuss nine practical tips to amplify your profile and skyrocket your post views for unparalleled engagement.

1. Craft compelling content

  • Create valuable content

Elevate your LinkedIn game by crafting content that speaks directly to your target audience. Identify your audience’s needs and interests, and deliver tangible benefits, immediate results, or fascinating insights. Remember, it’s not about you; it’s about what your readers want.

Utilize a mix of text, infographics, gifs, and videos to keep your content diverse and engaging. Employ writing techniques such as short sentences, line spacing, emojis, storytelling, and visuals to enhance readability.

  • Republish Content

Unlock the potential of your content by republishing it strategically. According to research, not everyone visits LinkedIn multiple times a day, so reposting content (with a 10-day gap) can increase reach and engagement. Focus on delivering unique insights with each repost, ensuring each post feels fresh and valuable to your audience.

2. Complete your profile

Your LinkedIn profile is your professional identity. Make sure to complete it. Ensure you have a standout header image, use your professional name, invest in a professional photo, and craft a compelling summary showcasing your talents.

Keep your work experience, education, certifications, and specializations up-to-date. Growing your network to at least 500 connections significantly boosts visibility.

3. Shorten the links you share

Long, unwieldy URLs can detract from the professionalism of your content. Replug’s link shortener not only cleans up your links but also provides valuable tracking metrics. It’s about more than just character count reduction – crafting connections that resonate with your audience.

Engage with your audience by responding to comments on your posts. This not only pushes your content back to the top of feeds but also establishes a connection with your audience. Thoughtful responses create a sense of community and encourage future engagements.

  • Re-share other people’s content

Expand your network and visibility by re-sharing content from other LinkedIn members. This not only puts you on their radar but can also make you visible to their network. Use this strategy to build on others’ insights, reinforcing your thought leadership.

  • Get your employees and executives involved

Harness the power of employee advocacy by encouraging your team to engage and share company content. Employee posts can reach over 5X further than official company posts. Implement processes to notify the team about content creation and leverage employee advocacy platforms for streamlined content sharing.

What is a Custom URL & How to Create One?

Arslan Jadoon
12 minutes

Brands and entrepreneurs try to milk every engagement opportunity on the internet whether it’s social media, email, or paid ads.

The ultimate goal of all the attention-grabbing techniques is to convert the lead into a paying customer.

Therefore, a lot of brainstorming and effort goes into making that happen – they improve UI/UX, A/B test color schemes, improve call-to-actions, optimize on-page SEO, and much more.

One of the things that most marketers, bloggers, and small businesses undermine is the custom URL.

You may have heard about the custom URLs in a YouTube video or an article about link management or URL shortening.

Well, let’s try to crack open this topic and understand what custom URLs are and why they’re worth paying attention to in digital marketing.

What are custom URLs?

Custom URLs are customized, better-looking alternative URLs that replace long and clunky website URLs for engagement, click-through rate, and conversion.

Most e-commerce websites don’t have optimized product page URLs, which affects their SEO performance. The reason is that the URL structure plays a vital role in the website ranking.

Some brands use branded, short URLs in their link management to improve CTR and conversion across different mediums. These types of URLs are used in email newsletters, social media publishing, and marketing pamphlets.

Custom or vanity URLs are an essential part of the social media marketing and SEO campaign. Digital marketers and SEOs pay close attention to adding targeted keywords in their URL slugs.

You may have noticed that brands and influencers share social media content with a short URL that has a campaign URL slug attached to it. This URL slug is different from URL parameters that are added to the URLs for tracking the URL performance.

The custom URLs are beneficial from both branding and SEO aspects of digital marketing. Brands could customize their short URLs by adding short branded domains for URL shortening as well as creating custom URLs for social media and email marketing campaigns.

Best practices for using custom URLs

Have you ever wondered what goes into creating fancy and attractive custom URLs? Using vanity or custom URLs is a common digital marketing practice that helps brands build brand reputation and identity.

However, there are a few things to know before you create a bunch of custom URLs for a social media marketing campaign. Let’s discuss some of the best practices that will help you navigate the custom URL creation process with ease:

i. Use a short domain for custom URLs

There is no point in putting effort into setting up a custom URL with a large URL. A custom URL has to be short and sweet. Otherwise, it won’t make an impact. Brands and entrepreneurs get creative with using the short versions of their names or finding the short domain extensions. (Example: garyvee.com)

ii. Opt for a brandable custom domain

Choosing a random custom domain for your custom URLs won’t be a wise decision. It has to be relevant to your brand name so that it elevates your brand identity. Since branding is a major factor in custom domains, the custom URLs must have your brand name’s infusion. Go for a custom domain that is either a short version of your brand name or using the initials of the company name. (Example: amzn.com)

iii. Register your domain with a short, relevant extension

Custom domains aren’t just about the domain names or URL slugs – the extensions matter too. A lot of brands use .io, .se, .co, and other short domain extensions for their custom URLs. However, it’s not the rule; you can go for a .com or .net if you want to but make sure that the domain name is short and relevant.

iv. Choose a URL shortener with a custom domain feature

Find a URL shortener with a custom domain feature for your brand’s link management. What it means is that the URL shortener must have a feature to add a custom domain to your account for creating brandable short URLs. Most of the URL shorteners on the market lack this feature, anyway, but don’t worry because we have your back.

Replug is a powerful link management tool that provides URL shortening, branded custom URLs, bio links, UTM codes, deep links, and several other link management services. Try it for free!

v. Avoid spamming on social media with your URLs

One of the best practices of using custom URLs is that you might not want to spam all over social media. The reason is that social media platforms could detect spamming and ban or limit your URL. As a result, you may not be able to post your short URLs or the reach could fall flat. So be very careful with your posting frequency and write a commentary on others’ content with messages containing your links.

These were some of the best practices for using custom URLs for brands, influencers, and small businesses that want to cash in on the short, custom URLs.

How to create a custom domain?

In the context of custom URLs, creating a custom domain refers to the process of registering, propagating, and connecting the short URL with the link management tool of your choice.

Since my favorite URL shortener is Replug, I’ll be using this link management tool for this process. However, you can opt for a different tool if you want to, but I highly recommend trying Replug for free.

So let’s get into the step-by-step process of creating a custom domain:

Step 1: Register a custom domain

Domain registration is the first step toward setting up a custom domain no matter what tool you choose to set up the whole thing. So go on with registering a short and sweet domain for your brand.

Keep in mind that most brands pick the short version of their brand name to register for setting up their short domain. Similarly, it’s wise to opt for a two-letter domain extension to keep the URL as short as possible, such as .co, .io, .se, and others.

So to register your custom domain, go to your domain registrar service to check the domain availability and register the domain.

register-a-custom-domain

I have been registering my domains on Namecheap for over a decade. You can check out other domain registrars if you want to. However, the prices are pretty much the same across all registrars.

Step 2: Propagate the custom domain with Replug

Once the domain registration has been done, head over to the custom domain configuration with Replug. Pay close attention to this two-step process to make it work.

The first step toward this configuration is the DNS records updating. So add the DNS records for your custom domain to configure it with Replug.

To get started with DNS records updating, go to your domain registrar account and look out for the desired domain’s DNS settings.

dns-setting

Find the option named “Add New Record” or “Add Record,” to configure the DNS settings.

Now add a CNAME record in your domain setting to configure it with your Replug account.

cName-record

Click on the “Add New Record” option to include a new record. Add the following details:

  • Record Type: CNAME
  • Hostname: @ or www
  • Point to (Address): Your short domain (URL)

Adding the DNS settings is half the equation – the next half of the process happens in your Replug dashboard.

Step 3: Add the custom domain to your Replug account

When the DNS setting is done, go to the Replug account to add the custom domain to your Replug account.

When logged in to your Replug account open the drop-down settings menu from the top right corner by clicking on your profile button.

what-is-a-custom-url

Head over to the Custom Domains section and click on the Add Domain option to add a custom domain to your account.

add-custom-domain

It’s time to provide your short custom domain to connect it to your Replug account. So fill up the form with your branded URL, custom 404 redirection page URL, and main root URL.

Press the Connect button after providing the details.

Step 4: Create a new brand in your Replug account

Creating a brand in the Replug account is necessary to keep track of brand-level link performance. Otherwise, the shortened URLs will be assigned to a previously created brand in your account.

So once you have configured the custom domain with your Replug account, the next up is to add a new brand to your Replug account.

brands

To create a brand in the Replug account, go to the Manage section and click on the Brands option from the drop-down menu.

add-new-brand

This is the area where you add a new brand. Choose the “New Brand” option to create one.

create-new-brand

After clicking on the “New Brand” button, a pop-up menu would show up. Feel free to enter the brand name and website URL. Once it’s done, press the Save button to proceed.

This way, you’ll have successfully created a new brand in the Replug account.

custom-url-campaign

Click on the Manage button from the top menu bar and access the Campaigns option from the drop-down menu.

new-campaign

Now click on the New Campaign button on the page to create a new campaign. The next up is selecting the right brand for this campaign. Therefore, select the brand you just created for this campaign.

campaign-setup

Now choose the campaign type. It’s important to pay attention to this part as you must select the appropriate custom domain for the campaign.

campaign-setup

Write down the name of your campaign and opt for the right short domain you just added.

Don’t forget to save the campaign once you have added all the details.

Once it’s all done, you can start using your custom domain for creating branded, short URLs for social media and email marketing.

Understanding the impact of your marketing campaigns is no longer a luxury—it’s a necessity.

At Replug, we understand that every click, every interaction, and every conversion matters. That’s why we’ve created this guide to help you unlock the true potential of UTM parameters.

Replug offers a variety of tools that can transform the way you handle UTM parameters, making the process efficient and painless.

Here’s a guide on how to optimize your UTM parameters with Replug:

  1. Shortening – Transforming UTM parameters into simplified Replug links

One of the major drawbacks of UTM parameters is their length. They can turn a simple URL into a convoluted mess, especially when you want to share it in a mobile format or offline print materials. Not to mention, when posted on social media, these lengthy URLs can be unwieldy, taking up valuable character space.

utm-parameters-builder

To combat these challenges, it’s highly recommended to convert your UTM parameters into Replug links. For instance, let’s say you’re promoting your eBook with a UTM-enabled URL like this:

Original URL:

http://replug.io/pages/resources/ebooks/influencermarketing?&utm_source=contentdigest&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ebook-influencer-marketing&leadchannel=email&leadchanneldetail=contentdigest

By using Replug, you can transform it into a sleek, manageable link like this:

Replug link:

https://rplg.co/Influencer02

With the added benefit of customizing the back half of the link to indicate its destination, Replug makes sharing UTM-enhanced URLs a breeze.

How to Shrink a Link: Step-by-Step Guide

Arslan Jadoon
4 minutes

Have you ever wondered how to transform those endless, complicated web addresses into neat and shareable links? You’re in the right place. We’re here to not only explain what link shrinking is but also guide you on how to do it. It’s a useful method for sharing links on social media, emails, or printed materials.

The process is quite simple: just copy your lengthy URL, paste it into a link-shortening tool, and there you go – you’ll receive a shorter, more convenient link that you can easily share. Let’s get started!

Shrink a link: What does it mean?

Link shrinking, often referred to as URL shortening, is the process of converting a long, unwieldy web address (URL) into a shorter, more streamlined version. This short link is designed for greater convenience, ease of sharing, and improved user experience. It is widely employed in digital communication and marketing to simplify the presentation and distribution of web links.

For example:

A lengthy URL looks like this:

This is how it might look after shortening or shrinking:

Shrink vs. branded link: What’s the difference?

The primary difference between a shorter link and a branded link lies in their structure and purpose:

Shrink link:

  • A shrink or shorter link is a compact, generic URL that’s created to make a long and unwieldy web address more concise. This is typically done using link-shortening services like Replug or Bitly.
  • Shrink links are shorter in length and are easier to share, especially on platforms with character limits, such as Twitter.
  • They often use a generic domain (e.g., rplg.co) followed by a series of random characters or a short identifier.
  • Shrink links are primarily used for convenience and brevity.

Branded link:

  • A branded link, also known as a custom or vanity link, is a URL that incorporates a specific brand or organization’s name or keyword into the link itself.
  • Branded links use a domain associated with the brand, making them instantly recognizable and trustworthy.
  • Branded links are used to enhance brand recognition, trust, and user engagement. They help users easily identify the source of the link and can be a part of a company’s branding strategy.

What are UTM Codes and How Do They Work?

Arslan Jadoon
4 minutes

Marketing can be complex, but measuring its effectiveness doesn’t have to be. UTM codes are your answer to understanding what’s working and what’s not in your campaigns and, more importantly, to pinpoint which campaigns are doing the heavy lifting. This is where UTM codes come into play, offering a simple solution to the challenge of marketing success. So, let’s break it down:

What are UTM codes?

UTM codes are essentially strings of text that are added to URLs. These strings contain specific parameters that provide invaluable information about the source, medium, and campaign that led a user to a particular webpage. In other words, UTM parameters act as data markers, offering a clearer view of the user’s journey, from the initial interaction to conversion.

Here’s a breakdown of the key UTM parameters:

  1. Source:

This parameter specifies the origin of your traffic. Is it coming from an email, a social media platform, a search engine, or another source? Accurately tagging the source helps you identify which channels are driving the most traffic.

  1. Medium:

The medium parameter describes the type of marketing medium used. It could be an email, social, organic search, paid search, or any other medium relevant to your campaign. Categorizing your traffic in this way allows you to determine which marketing avenues are the most effective.

  1. Campaign:

The campaign parameter enables you to track a specific marketing campaign or initiative. Whether it’s a product launch, a seasonal promotion, or an event, this parameter helps you differentiate between different efforts within the same source and medium.

  1. Term (optional):

This parameter is often used for paid search campaigns to identify the keywords that triggered the ad click. It’s an optional parameter and is mainly relevant to search engine advertising.

  1. Content (optional):

Another optional parameter, content can be used to differentiate between different elements of your marketing efforts, such as different ad variations or links within the same campaign.

Understand with an example:

Let’s create an example URL with UTM parameters added.

Original URL:

https://www.example.com/product-page

Now, let’s add UTM parameters to track the source, medium, and campaign:

  • Source: Let’s say the traffic is coming from an email newsletter.
  • Medium: The marketing medium is email.
  • Campaign: It’s part of a campaign called “SummerPromo.”

Now, we’ll add these UTM parameters to the URL:

https://www.example.com/product-page?utm_source=email&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=SummerPromo

With these UTM parameters added, you can track that anyone who clicks on this URL is coming from the source “email,” through the medium “email,” and as part of the “SummerPromo” campaign. This allows you to monitor the performance of this specific link in your marketing efforts.

How to create UTM tracking codes?

Creating UTM tracking codes is a pivotal part of monitoring the performance of your online marketing efforts. While it’s technically possible to manually create these codes by adding specific strings to your URLs, it can be complex and time-consuming, especially when you have to manage them at scale. This is where UTM code generators come into play, making the process much more efficient.

Google Analytics URL builder:

Google Analytics offers a straightforward UTM code generator, which has become the go-to choice for many businesses. Here’s how you can use it:

  1. Visit Google’s URL Builder tool.
  2. Fill in the required fields for your campaign: the URL of the landing page, source, medium, campaign, term (optional), and content (optional).
  3. Click “Generate URL,” and Google will create the UTM-coded URL for you.
how-to-create-utm-parameters-url

Replug – A convenient alternative:

Replug is another powerful tool for UTM code creation, and here’s why it’s worth considering:

  • Automatic UTM code generation:

Replug automates the UTM code creation process, saving you the trouble of manual entry. This means you can gather valuable analytics data as soon as your campaign goes live.

  • Shortened and customized URLs:

UTM-coded URLs can become quite lengthy, which can be a problem on platforms like Instagram or when users need to copy and paste links. Replug shortens and customizes these URLs, making them more elegant and user-friendly.

For example, a long UTM-coded URL might look like this:

https://replug.io/pages/resources/blogs/influencermarketing?&utm_source=contentdigest&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ebook-influencer-marketing&leadchannel=email&leadchanneldetail=contentdigest

With Replug, it could be as sleek as this:

While preserving all the essential UTM data.

How to Increase Click-Through Rate (CTR) using Branded Links?

Arslan Jadoon
3 minutes

Driving traffic to your content is essential for success in the digital age. Whether you’re sharing content on social media, in emails, or through advertisements, your click-through rate (CTR) is a critical metric that directly impacts your online presence.

While there’s plenty of advice on improving CTR through content optimization, one often overlooked factor is the link itself. In this article, we’ll explore how branded links can significantly enhance your CTR.

Understanding CTR

Before diving into the world of branded links, let’s establish a clear understanding of CTR. Click-through rate (CTR) is a vital metric in online marketing, expressed as a percentage. It’s the number of times a link is clicked divided by the number of times it’s viewed. Simply put, if your link gets ten views and one click, your CTR is 10%. Now, let’s delve into why CTR is so crucial.

click-through-rate-CTR

Imagine you’ve crafted a groundbreaking piece of content that has the potential to change lives, but no one reads it. The quality of your content will only matter if it reaches your target audience. Your link is the bridge that connects your audience to your content, making CTR a make-or-break factor.

What are branded links?

Branded links, also known as vanity URLs or custom short links, are URLs that have been customized to include a specific brand’s name or a relevant keyword. Unlike generic, lengthy, or complex URLs, branded links are shorter, more descriptive, and often feature the brand’s domain name or a recognizable keyword, making them more user-friendly and visually appealing.

Here’s an example of a branded link:

Original URL:

7 best ways to increase CTR using branded links:

Let’s explore how you can leverage branded links to optimize your CTR.

  1. Include your brand name in the link:

The domain is the first element of your link, and it’s imperative to include your brand name. Many people use link-shortening tools for brevity, but this often obscures the brand name. Branded links, also known as vanity URLs, remedy this by showcasing your brand, increasing trust, and building brand awareness. Studies show that branded links can boost CTR by up to 39%.

  1. Use a unique top-level domain (TLD):

After your domain, the choice of Top-Level Domain (TLD) can impact CTR. New TLDs can help your link stand out and convey relevance. For instance, using “.tech” for tech-related content or “.store” for online retail adds clarity and can attract more clicks.

  1. Include a keyword:

The URL slug, the part that comes after the slash, is an essential component of SEO. Branded links allow you to choose your keywords, ensuring your link’s relevance and SEO-friendliness. This customization can set you apart from generic shorteners that offer limited options.

  1. Consider link length:

Long URLs can hinder readability and may be truncated on social media. Short, concise links are more appealing to users. Keep it simple to maintain interest and encourage clicks.

  1. Use “https://” for secure links:

‘Https://’ before a URL signifies a secure connection with SSL certification, which builds trust in your brand’s links. Additionally, Google favors ‘https://’ sites in its search rankings, giving you an SEO boost.

  1. Make sure you keep your word:

Ensure that the content behind your links aligns with the promise you make in your branded link. Consistency builds trust, and trustworthy links are more likely to be clicked repeatedly.

  1. Make them memorable:

Branded links are inherently memorable, making them shareable offline and over various mediums. Memorability boosts CTR, as people can easily recall and revisit the links.

Branded Links vs. Short Links: Which is Right for Your Brand?

Arslan Jadoon
6 minutes

Have you ever shared an interesting post, recommended a funny video, or perhaps even critiqued an article that missed the mark? We’ve all been there. But what you might not realize is that the way you share these online treasures can significantly impact your brand.

If you’ve been using plain, generic short links to share content, it’s time to take a closer look. By doing so, you could inadvertently be promoting other brands instead of your own.

We’re going to cut through the noise and discuss the difference between branded vs. short links. We’ll help you understand the implications of your choice and how it can affect your brand’s online identity. So, let’s get straight to it!

What is a short link?

A short link, also known as a short URL, is a compressed version of a long web address or URL. Short links are created to simplify lengthy URLs, making them easier to share, remember, and use, especially in contexts where character limits are a concern, such as social media or printed materials.

Short links typically redirect users to the original, longer URL when clicked. They are especially useful for sharing links on platforms like Twitter, where character limits for a single tweet are in place. Instead of using a long and cumbersome URL, you can generate a short link that directs users to the intended web page.

What is a branded link?

A branded link, also known as a custom short link or a vanity URL, is a type of shortened URL that includes a brand’s or organization’s name or a custom keyword as part of the link. Unlike generic short links that use a random combination of characters and numbers, branded links are customized to reflect the brand’s identity, making them more recognizable and trustworthy to users.

Branded links are a fantastic choice for businesses and individuals looking to enhance their online branding, improve user engagement, and create a polished and trustworthy online presence.

Short vs. branded links: Which is better?

Branded links can indeed offer several advantages, especially when it comes to strengthening your brand identity and increasing user trust. They are valuable for businesses and individuals looking to create a cohesive online presence and improve user engagement.

The choice between branded links and short links eventually depends on your specific goals and the context in which you plan to use them. Let’s explore the benefits of each:

Branded links:

  • Strong brand identity: Branded links reinforce your brand identity, incorporating your brand name or a custom keyword. This can boost brand recognition and user trust.
  • Higher click-through rates: Branded links often have higher click-through rates as they appear more trustworthy and relevant to users.
  • Enhanced user experience: They offer a user-friendly and memorable link, making it easier to recognize and share.
  • Consistency: Branded links maintain a consistent brand image across different online platforms.
  • Analytics: You can track the performance of branded links and gain valuable insights into user engagement.

Short links:

  • Conciseness: Short links are compact and ideal for contexts with character limits like social media or text messages.
  • Space-saving: They save space in printed materials, enhancing aesthetics and usability.
  • Universal use: Short links are versatile and can be used for various types of content.

The choice depends on your priorities:

Branded Links: If strengthening your brand identity, increasing trust, and improving user recognition are important to you, branded links are an excellent choice. They excel in marketing campaigns and content sharing where branding matters.

Short Links: If brevity and saving space are paramount, short links are suitable, especially in platforms with character constraints. They shine when the focus is on the content rather than the link.

Popular brands are using branded links:

Let’s take a look at how some of the most popular brands use branded links to their advantage:

  1. The New York Times – nyti.ms

The renowned newspaper, The New York Times, simplifies sharing long article URLs on social media and beyond by using the branded link nyti.ms. This branded link not only shortens the URL but also reinforces the brand’s identity with every click.

  1. Nike – swoo.sh

When it comes to sports and lifestyle, Nike is a household name. They utilize the branded link swoo.sh to create a memorable link for their products and promotions. This reinforces the Nike brand with every shared link.

branded links
  1. Amazon – amzn.to

E-commerce giant Amazon opts for the branded link amzn.to to shorten product URLs. This not only saves space in printed materials but also keeps the focus on their products rather than the URL itself.

Coca-Cola, a global beverage icon, maintains brand consistency by using branded links like cokeurl.com. This approach ensures that every link shared aligns with their brand image.

Arslan Jadoon

LinkedIn, a powerful tool for professional networking, is more than just a digital resume or a list of your connections. It’s like your virtual business card and the gateway to countless career opportunities.

Your LinkedIn profile URL might seem insignificant, but it’s crucial to your online identity. It’s your online address, a brief snapshot of who you are, and a chance to make a strong impression.

In this guide, we’ll explore how to create a LinkedIn vanity URL, giving your online profile a memorable identity.

Let’s learn how to create a LinkedIn URL that makes your professional profile stand out.

LinkedIn vanity URL: What does it mean?

A LinkedIn vanity URL is a customized web address that directs to your LinkedIn profile. It’s a personalized URL that replaces the default string of random numbers and letters in the web address of your LinkedIn profile with something more recognizable, usually your name or a variation of it.

For example, the default LinkedIn profile URL might look like this:

custom-linkedin-url

With a vanity URL, it can look like this:

linkedin-vanity-url

The purpose of a vanity URL is to make your LinkedIn profile easier to share, remember, and include on your resume, business cards, email signature, and other professional materials. It also enhances your online branding and makes you more discoverable on the platform. Creating a LinkedIn vanity URL is a simple way to create a more professional and memorable online presence.

How to Create a LinkedIn Vanity URL?

Here are the steps to create a LinkedIn vanity URL:

Step 1: Log into your LinkedIn account

Open your preferred web browser, go to the LinkedIn website (www.linkedin.com), and log in to your LinkedIn account if you’re not already logged in.

Step 2: Go to your profile

Click on your profile picture or your name in the top right corner of the LinkedIn homepage to go to your profile.

Step 3: Edit public profile & URL

On your LinkedIn profile page, you’ll see your profile picture, name, and a section with your LinkedIn URL beneath it. This URL is usually a combination of random letters and numbers. Click on the “Edit public profile & URL” link located to the right of your profile picture.

linkedin-vanity-url

Step 4: Edit your public profile URL

On the right side of the page, you’ll see a section labeled “Edit your custom URL.” It may display your current LinkedIn URL or an option to create a custom URL. Click on the pencil icon.

linkedin-vanity-url

Step 5: Choose your custom URL

A pop-up window will appear, allowing you to customize your LinkedIn URL. You can only use letters, numbers, and hyphens in your custom URL. It’s a good idea to use your name or a variation of it. For example, if your name is John Smith, you could use “johnsmith,” “john-smith,” or something similar. LinkedIn will also suggest some options based on your name. Type in your desired custom URL, and click “Save.”

Step 6:Review and confirm

LinkedIn will check the availability of the custom URL you’ve chosen. If it’s available, it will be saved as your new LinkedIn vanity URL. If it’s not available, you’ll need to choose a different one until you find an available option.

Share your vanity URL:

Once you’ve successfully created your custom URL, you can start using it on your resume, business cards, email signature, and other professional materials. It’s an easy way to make your LinkedIn profile more accessible to others.

Remember that once you’ve set your custom LinkedIn vanity URL, it’s permanent. While you can change it, LinkedIn recommends against doing so frequently to maintain consistency.

What are Deep Links and How to Create Them?

Arslan Jadoon
6 minutes

Deep links are the digital signposts that allow you to navigate the vast landscape of the internet with precision. They work by directing you to specific, relevant content or actions within a mobile app or website, rather than just the homepage.

In this guide, we’ll dive into what deep links are and how they function, empowering you with a clear understanding of this essential element in today’s digital world.

What are deep links?

Deep links are URLs or hyperlinks that take you directly to a specific, meaningful piece of content or a particular location within a mobile app or website, bypassing the homepage or main landing page.

These links enable users to access precise information, perform actions, or engage with features within an app or website without the need to navigate through multiple pages or menus.

What are deferred deep links?

Deferred deep links are a strategic solution to a common challenge in mobile app deep linking. When users click on a deep link but don’t have the corresponding app installed, deferred deep links redirect them to the relevant app store for installation. The magic happens when the user subsequently opens the app; they are still directed to the precise in-app location or content originally intended by the deep link.

This capability enhances user experience and conversion rates, making deferred deep links a valuable feature for app developers and marketers. They ensure that users, whether they have the app or not, can seamlessly access targeted content within the app after installation.

Understand different types of deep links:

There are several types of deep links, each designed for specific purposes and use cases:

  1. Traditional deep links: These links take users directly to a specific location or content within a mobile app. They are commonly used for providing a seamless and efficient user experience.
  2. Deferred deep links: As previously discussed, deferred deep links handle situations where users click on a deep link but don’t have the app installed. They redirect users to the app store for installation and then guide them to the intended in-app location after installation.
  3. Contextual deep links: These links not only take users to a specific location within an app but also carry additional context or information. This context can be used to personalize the user experience within the app.
  4. Universal links (iOS) and app links (android): These are platform-specific deep linking standards that allow apps to register their deep link URLs with the operating system. They offer a seamless transition between web and app content, enhancing user engagement.
  5. Custom scheme deep links: Apps can define custom URL schemes that trigger the app to open when a corresponding URL is clicked. While they are effective, they are less secure and more prone to conflicts.
  6. Smart app banners: These are not traditional deep links but deserve mention. They are banners that appear at the top of a mobile website when viewed on a device where the corresponding app is installed, encouraging users to switch to the app.
  7. Promotional deep links: These links are used in marketing campaigns to drive users to specific content or offers within an app. They are often used in email marketing, social media, and advertisements.
  8. One-time use deep links: These deep links can only be used once and are often employed for security or tracking purposes, such as one-time login links or referral links.

How do mobile marketers use deep linking?

Mobile marketers use deep linking to improve user engagement, enhance the user experience, and drive conversions within mobile apps.

Here are several ways in which mobile marketers leverage deep linking:

  • Personalized campaigns: Marketers create personalized deep links for different user segments based on user behavior, demographics, or preferences. These links direct users to content or offers tailored to their interests, increasing the likelihood of conversion.
  • User onboarding: Deep links can guide new users to specific onboarding screens within an app, helping them understand its features and benefits. This improves user retention and reduces churn.
  • Re-engagement: Marketers use deep links to re-engage inactive users by directing them to relevant content or promotions. This can help revive user interest and encourage them to return to the app.
  • Promotions and offers: Deep links are effective for promoting discounts, special offers, or limited-time deals within an app. Users clicking on these links are taken directly to the relevant product or promotion, increasing conversion rates.
  • Referral programs: Marketers create deep links for referral programs, allowing users to share personalized referral links with friends. When a friend installs the app through the referral link, both the referrer and the new user can be rewarded, encouraging word-of-mouth marketing.
  • Email and SMS marketing: Deep links are embedded in email and SMS marketing campaigns to take users directly to specific content or actions within the app. This reduces friction and increases the chances of conversion.
  • Social media marketing: Marketers use deep links in social media posts and ads to lead users to app content, such as product pages, articles, or videos, maximizing the impact of their social media campaigns.
  • Cross-promotion: Apps can cross-promote each other by using deep links to direct users from one app to another. This is commonly seen in gaming apps or within app ecosystems.
  • Attribution and analytics: Deep linking helps marketers track the effectiveness of various marketing channels and campaigns by attributing app installs and user actions to specific sources or campaigns.
  • A/B testing: Marketers can run A/B tests by creating multiple deep links with different parameters, allowing them to evaluate which version of a campaign or promotion is more successful in driving user engagement and conversions.

How URL Shortener Works: A Quick Guide

Arslan Jadoon
4 minutes

URL shorteners work by simplifying long, unwieldy web links into concise, user-friendly versions. They accomplish this by assigning a distinct code to each lengthy URL. This code is usually a combination of letters, numbers, and sometimes special characters.

When someone clicks on the shortened link, they are redirected to the original, longer URL. This redirection is handled by the URL shortening service’s server, which maintains a database of these code-to-URL mappings.

Additionally, many URL shorteners offer analytics features that provide valuable insights into the performance of the shortened links. Users can track metrics such as the number of clicks, geographic locations of users, and referral sources. This information can be particularly useful for marketing campaigns, social media sharing, or any scenario where understanding link engagement is essential.

Let’s discover what URL shorteners are and how they work!

A URL shortener is a tool that takes a long URL and turns it into a shorter one. This can be useful for a number of reasons. For example, if you want to share a link on social media, a shorter URL will be easier to type and fit in the character limit.

Additionally, URL shorteners can be used to track the number of clicks on a link. This can be helpful for marketing purposes or for simply keeping track of how popular a particular link is.

There are a number of different URL shorteners available, both free and paid. Some popular options include Replug, Bitly, and TinyURL.

It is important to note that URL shorteners are not always secure. When you shorten a URL, you are essentially giving the shortener control over that URL. This means that the shortener could potentially track your clicks or even redirect you to a malicious website. For this reason, it is important to only use reputable URL shorteners and to be careful about the links you click on.

How does a URL shortener work?

A URL shortener works by taking a long and often complex web address (URL) and transforming it into a shorter, more manageable link.

Here’s a step-by-step explanation of how it operates:

  1. Long link: Imagine you have a really long web link. It’s like this: “https://www.example.com/articles/how-url-shorteners-work-explained-in-detail.”
  2. URL shortener tool: Now, to make it shorter and more manageable, you turn to a URL shortener service. Think of it as a digital tool that specializes in simplifying web links. Some popular ones include Replug and Bitly.
  3. Input: When you visit their website, you’ll typically find a box that says “Paste your long link here” or something similar. Here’s where you paste your lengthy URL, like the one above.
  4. Shortened link: After you paste it and click a button, the URL shortener works its magic. It transforms that long link into something compact and user-friendly. For example, your long link becomes “https://rplg.co/3ABCxyz.”
  5. Customization (optional): Many URL shorteners offer the option to create a custom domain. This means you can use your own domain name (like yourbrand.com) instead of the shortener’s domain. You can also personalize permalinks to have a more branded and memorable link structure. For example, instead of the automatically generated code, you could have “yourbrand.com/tiktok-seo.”
  6. Personalized domain: With a custom domain, you can create links that align perfectly with your brand identity. This not only adds professionalism to your shortened URLs but also makes them more trustworthy and recognizable to your audience.
  7. Sharing: Now, you have this shorter link that’s easier to share. For instance, in a tweet, you can comfortably fit “https://rplg.co/3ABCxyz,” whereas the long link would be too cumbersome for a character-limited platform.
  8. Optional stats: Some URL shorteners provide additional features. They can show you how many times your shortened link has been clicked and where those clicks are coming from. This is particularly useful for tracking the performance of links in marketing campaigns or social media posts.
  9. Instant result: When someone clicks on your shortened link, they’re swiftly redirected to the original, longer web page. It’s like a shortcut that saves them from having to type out or remember the lengthy URL.

How to Redirect a URL to Another URL?

Arslan Jadoon

Redirecting a URL to another destination is a fundamental skill in web development and online communication. Whether you’re rebranding a website, updating content, or optimizing user experience, the ability to seamlessly guide users from one web address to another is invaluable.

In this guide, we’ll explore various methods and step-by-step instructions on how to effectively redirect URLs, ensuring your online presence remains agile and user-friendly.

What is a URL redirect?

A URL redirect is a way to send users from one URL to another. This can be done for a variety of reasons, such as:

  • To improve the user experience by sending users to a more relevant or up-to-date page.
  • To prevent broken links by redirecting users to a new page that has replaced the old one.
  • To track website traffic by redirecting users to a different page depending on where they came from.

2 main types of URL redirects:

There are two main types of URL redirects: 301 redirects and 302 redirects.

A 301 redirect is a permanent redirect, which means that the old URL will no longer be used and all traffic should be directed to the new URL.

A 302 redirect is a temporary redirect, which means that the old URL may be used again in the future.

URL redirects can be set up by website administrators or by using a third-party service.

How to redirect a URL to another URL?

Redirecting a URL to another URL can be done using various methods, depending on your specific needs and the technology stack you are using.

Here are some common methods and steps for each:

  • HTTP Redirects (Status Codes 301 and 302)
  • Using JavaScript for Client-Side Redirect
  • Using Meta Refresh Tag (HTML Meta Tag)
  • Using Server-Side Scripting (e.g., PHP)
  • Using URL Rewrite Rules (Apache mod_rewrite or Nginx)
  • Using a Content Management System (CMS)
  • Using a URL shortener

Now, let’s explain each of these methods step by step:

Method 1: HTTP redirects (status codes 301 and 302)

Step 1: Open your web server configuration file (e.g., Apache’s “.htaccess” for Apache servers) or use a control panel like cPanel.

Step 2: Add the following line to redirect the old URL to the new URL:

how-to-redirect-a-url-to-another-url

Replace “/old-page.html” with the path to the old URL and http://example.com/new-page.html with the new destination URL.

Step 3: Save the configuration file.

Step 4: The 301 redirect informs search engines that the old URL has permanently moved to the new URL.

Method 2: Using JavaScript for client-side redirect

Step 1: Insert the following JavaScript code in the <head> section of your HTML document:

how-to-redirect-a-url-to-another-url

Replace “http://example.com/new-page.html” with the URL you want to redirect to.

Step 2: When a user accesses the old URL, they will be automatically redirected to the new URL.

Method 3: Using meta refresh tag (HTML meta tag)

Step 1: Insert the following HTML <meta> tag in the <head> section of your HTML document:

how-to-redirect-a-url-to-another-url

Replace “http://example.com/new-page.html” with the new destination URL.

Step 2: The content attribute specifies the time delay (in seconds) before the redirect occurs. In this example, it’s set to 0, which means an immediate redirect.

Method 4: Using server-side scripting (e.g., PHP)

Step 1: Create a PHP file for the old URL (e.g., old-page.php).

Step 2: Add the following PHP code to the PHP file:

how-to-redirect-a-url

Replace “http://example.com/new-page.html” with the new destination URL.

Step 3: This PHP script sends an HTTP header to the browser, triggering a 301 redirect to the new URL.

Method 5: Using URL rewrite rules (Apache mod_rewrite or Nginx)

Step 1: For Apache, create or edit a .htaccess file in your website’s directory. For Nginx, edit your server block configuration.

Step 2: Add rewrite rules to redirect URLs. For example, for Apache with mod_rewrite:

how-to-redirect-a-url

Replace “old-page\.html$” with the old URL pattern and http://example.com/new-page.html with the new destination URL.

Step 3: Save the configuration file.

Step 4: These rules will redirect requests for the old URL to the new URL with a 301 status code.

Method 6: Using a content management system (CMS):

If your website is built on a CMS like WordPress, Joomla, or Drupal, there are usually plugins or settings within the CMS that allow you to set up URL redirects without directly editing server configuration files.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to redirect a URL to another URL in WordPress!

How to Create a Trackable Link: A Step-by-Step Guide

Arslan Jadoon
6 minutes

Ever wondered who’s clicking on that link you shared? That’s where trackable links come in – your window into understanding online engagement. Whether it’s a product, a post, or a video, the trackable link lets you see who’s interested.

This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about trackable links: what they are, how they work, and how to create them easily. No more guessing about what’s working and what’s not. With a trackable link generator, you’ll have instant access to clicks, sources, and more.

Here’s a quick overview of what we’ll cover:

  • What is a trackable link?
  • How does a trackable link work?
  • How to create a trackable link using Replug?
  • Tips for using trackable links

Let’s get started!

What is a trackable link?

A trackable link, also known as a tracking link, tracking URL, or campaign link, is a specially crafted URL that contains hidden information to monitor and analyze user interactions.

It allows you to collect data about how many people clicked on the link, where they came from, when they clicked, and other relevant details. This information provides insights into the performance of your links and helps you make informed decisions about your marketing and content strategies.

Tracking links are commonly used in digital marketing, social media, email campaigns, and other online activities to measure the effectiveness of various promotional efforts. By creating a trackable link, you gain valuable insights into user behavior and can optimize your strategies for better results.

How does a trackable link work?

When someone clicks on a tracking link, they are redirected to the intended destination, such as a website or landing page. However, during this redirection process, additional information is collected and recorded, providing insights into various aspects of user engagement.

Here’s a simplified breakdown of how a trackable link works:

Link creation:

A trackable link is created using a specialized URL tracking tool or service. These tools add unique parameters or codes to the link, which are not visible to the user. These parameters contain information about the source of the link, the medium through which it was shared, and other relevant details.

Click tracking:

When someone clicks on the trackable link, they are directed to the intended destination. However, before the redirection, the parameters added to the link are recorded. This allows the tracking system to track clicks on a link.

Data collection:

The tracking system collects various data points, such as:

  • The source of the click (e.g., social media platform, email, website).
  • The medium used (e.g., organic search, paid advertisement).
  • Geographic location of the user.
  • The device and browser used.
  • The time and date of the click.

Analytics and reporting:

The collected data is then aggregated and presented in the form of analytics and reports. Users who created the trackable link can access this information through a dashboard or analytics platform associated with the link-tracking service.

With the collected data, you can gain insights into the effectiveness of your link-sharing strategies. You can see which platforms are driving the most traffic, when user engagement is highest, and other valuable information. This data helps you make informed decisions and optimize your content or marketing efforts accordingly.

Tips for using trackable links

Here are some tips for effectively using trackable links:

  • Set clear goals: Define what you want to achieve with your trackable links. Whether it’s tracking clicks on a specific campaign, measuring the effectiveness of a social media post, or monitoring traffic sources for your website, having clear goals will help you gather relevant insights.
  • Use descriptive UTM parameters: If your trackable link supports UTM parameters (such as those used in Google Analytics), ensure you use descriptive and consistent parameters. This will help you categorize and analyze your data accurately.
  • Customize for context: Depending on where you’re sharing the link, consider customizing the URL or the call to action (CTA) to match the context. This can improve click-through rates and engagement.
  • Test different versions: A/B testing isn’t just for content. Create multiple versions of trackable links and see which performs better. This can provide insights into what wording or design resonates with your audience.
  • Short and memorable: If you’re sharing links verbally or in a non-clickable format, like print, use a link-shortening service to create a memorable, concise link.
  • Use in email campaigns: Trackable links are particularly useful in email marketing. Monitor click-through rates to see which links are driving the most engagement and adjust your content strategy accordingly.
  • Segment your data: If you’re tracking links for different campaigns or products, segment your data in your tracking tool. This will help you analyze performance more effectively.
  • Monitor trends: Over time, you might notice patterns in the data. Certain days, times, platforms, or content might consistently perform better. Adjust your posting schedule and strategies accordingly.
  • Optimize landing pages: It’s not just about the link itself; trackable links can also shed light on how effective your landing pages are at converting visitors. Use the data to improve your landing page design and content.
  • Regularly review analytics: Set aside time to regularly review the analytics provided by your trackable link service. This will help you stay informed about how your links are performing and make informed decisions.
  • Educate your team: If you’re working with a team, ensure everyone is aware of how to create and use trackable links. This consistency will make your data more reliable.

How to Create Your Own URL Shortener?

Arslan Jadoon

Ever clicked on a link that seemed to stretch forever? URL shorteners are the magic wand to that problem. They transform lengthy web addresses into concise, manageable links. Whether you’re running an online business or just love sharing cool stuff, creating your very own URL shortener can be a nifty move.

In this guide, we’re going to show you how to create your own link shortener. Think of it as creating your own secret link language. Don’t worry, it’s simpler than you might think. Let’s jump in and start shortening!

What is a URL shortener?

A URL shortener is a tool that takes a long URL and converts it into a shorter one. This can be useful for a number of reasons, such as:

There are many different URL shorteners available, some of the most popular ones include Replug, Bitly, and TinyURL.

To use a URL shortener, simply enter the long URL into the shortener’s website and it will generate a shorter version for you. You can then copy and paste the short URL wherever you need to share it.

How to create your own URL shortener?

In this guide, we’ll explore two methods to achieve this: the traditional DIY approach and utilizing a service like White-Label Solution.

Method 1: The DIY approach

Creating a custom URL shortener from scratch might sound complex, but it’s entirely achievable with some tech enthusiasm. Here’s a simplified breakdown:

Step 1: Choose a short domain

Select a short and memorable domain name for your URL shortener. Think “mylink.com.”

Step 2: Register your domain

Register your chosen domain through a domain registrar. Opt for a name that reflects your style. For instance, you could use a service like Namecheap to register.

Step 3: Get hosting

Choose a web hosting provider that suits your needs. This will be where your URL shortener lives. You might choose a provider like Bluehost.

Step 4: Create a database

Set up a MySQL database to store your shortened URLs and related data.

Step 5: Develop your URL shortener application

Create the user interface using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. For the backend, use PHP to handle data and database interactions.

Step 6: Coding your URL shortener

Implement the logic to generate shortcodes, store URLs in the database, and manage redirection.

Here’s an example of how you might structure the backend PHP code for your URL shortener:

how-to-create-your-own-url-shortener

Step 7: Upload files to the hosting

Use an FTP client or hosting file manager to upload your application files.

Step 8: Configure database connection

Ensure your PHP files are properly configured to connect to your MySQL database. In the PHP code above, replace “localhost”, “username”, and “password” with your actual database host, username, and password.

Step 9: Implement redirection

Create a redirection script to retrieve the original URL and redirect users. Create a file named “index.php” in the “url-shortener” directory.

Here’s an example of how you might implement redirection:

how-to-create-your-own-url-shortener

Step 10: Finish installation

Visit your application’s URL and test your newly created URL shortener.

By following these steps, you’ve created a simple URL shortener that allows users to input long URLs and receive shortened links. This example uses PHP and MySQL to demonstrate the process, and you can further customize and enhance your URL shortener as desired. Remember to regularly update and maintain your application for security and functionality.

Let’s supercharge your website’s organic search results with our SEO split testing guide.

What is SEO Split Testing?

SEO split testing is the process of comparing different versions of web pages to measure their impact on search engine rankings. It’s like a controlled experiment, where you have a variant page with changes and a control page. By tracking the performance of each variant, you can identify the best performing webpage and enhance your website’s visibility in search engines.

The benefits of SEO split testing

  • Data-driven decision-making: You can make informed decisions based on empirical evidence on the effectiveness of different variations.
  • Improved user experience: Testing different elements can lead to a better user experience, resulting in higher engagement and improved rankings.
  • Increased organic traffic:  You can attract more organic traffic from search engines by optimizing your website based on test results.
  • Better conversion rates: Split testing helps identify the most effective strategies to drive conversions.
  • Adaptation to algorithm changes: It allows you to adjust your SEO strategies in response to algorithm updates.
  • Stakeholder buy-in: A/B Split test results provide tangible evidence of the impact of SEO efforts.

Why should I split test my SEO strategy?

SEO

Below are the benefits of split testing the SEO strategy that might convince you to invest your time in them:

1. Improve Conversion Rates:

Conversion rate optimization (CRO) and SEO are closely related concepts. By split testing your SEO campaign you can increase traffic and conversion rates. You can fine-tune your SEO strategy to enhance user experience and boost conversions by testing various iterations of landing pages and calls-to-action buttons.

2. Optimize SEO Efforts:

By using split-testing, you can compare various iterations of your SEO strategy, including :

  • Keyword usage
  • Meta tags/descriptions
  • On-page optimization
  • Content organization

This practice allows you to identify which tactic produces the best outcomes. It assists you in determining the best strategies to raise your search engine rankings and increase organic traffic.

3. Keeping up with algorithm changes:

Search engine algorithms are always changing, so what works today might not work tomorrow. Split-testing enables you to modify and polish your SEO approach to conform to algorithm updates. You can make sure your website maintains its search engine optimization and visibility in the constantly shifting environment by being proactive and conducting ongoing testing.

4. Convince stakeholders and quatify Impact:

The impact of SEO can be quantified by measuring key metrics both before and after changes by performing an SEO Split test. This data-driven strategy offers verifiable proof of the efficacy of your SEO strategy, enabling you to convince stakeholders of the value of your optimizations and make wise resource allocation choices.

5. Refine user experience:

Split-testing SEO components can help you improve your website’s overall user experience. By testing various layouts, navigation structures, page load times, and mobile responsiveness, you can find changes that make your website more user-friendly

Factors to consider before performing the SEO Split test?

Split-test_

These several factors must be considered before performing an SEO split test.

  1. Clear objectives: Define clear objectives for your test. What specific aspect of your SEO strategy are you testing?
  2. Testing scope: Determine the scope of your test. Decide whether you’ll be testing a single webpage or multiple pages.
  3. Sample size:  Strive for a sample size that provides meaningful insights without being too resource-intensive.
  4. Test duration: Determine the appropriate duration for your test within the time frame of changing dynamics.
  5. Statistical significance: Establish the level of statistical significance you require for your results to be reliable. This helps determine the confidence level you need to make decisions based on the test data.
  6. Choosing the right testing tool: Use a reliable, user-friendly A/B split testing tool with a solid track record.
  7. Consistency in testing conditions: Make sure the testing conditions, such as the user demographics, devices, browsers, and traffic sources, are constant throughout the test.
  8. Segmentation and personalization: Depending on user characteristics, decide whether you want to segment your audience or personalize the variations.
  9. Data collection and analysis: Establish a clear plan for data collection and analysis to derive actionable conclusions.
  10. Documentation and reporting: Document your test process, including the variations tested, metrics measured, and results obtained. This documentation will be valuable for future reference

How do you know if an SEO test is successful?

Keyword rankings:

When it comes to evaluating your SEO results, one important aspect to consider is monitoring your keyword rankings on search engine results pages (SERPs). While rankings should not be the sole focus of your SEO campaign, they provide valuable insights into the performance and effectiveness of your targeted keywords. By regularly checking your rankings, you can track whether they are improving, declining, or remaining stagnant over time. If you find out that you are not ranking for the keywords you targeted, reevaluate whether it is worth continuing to focus on those keywords or considering alternative options.

Organic traffic:

Another way to see whether your SEO test was successful is by analyzing your website’s organic traffic. There are comprehensive tools like Content Studio that help you look for trends and changes in traffic volume, sources, and user behavior. Compare the data before and after implementing SEO strategies to identify any positive impact on organic traffic.

An increase in organic traffic serves as a strong indicator of the effectiveness of your SEO efforts. However, do keep in mind that organic traffic data is more important than overall traffic. It is because factors outside of SEO can influence overall traffic numbers. Conversely, a decrease in organic traffic suggests that your SEO tests are not working.

Backlinks:

Evaluate the quantity and quality of backlinks to your website. Backlinks from reputable and relevant sources can improve your website’s authority and search rankings. When implementing effective SEO practices, it is natural to witness an increase in backlinks. You need to assess whether the number of links and unique domains they originate from is growing, declining, or stagnant. However, quantity alone is not sufficient; the quality of backlinks also holds great importance. Low-quality backlinks can be detrimental to your website’s reputation, similar to having no links at all.

Check impressions:

Impressions refer to the number of times your website appears in search results without receiving any clicks. It serves as an initial metric to consider. This is because, when you begin optimizing for keywords, it’s unlikely that you’ll immediately land on the first page of search results.

Starting from lower pages means that even if your website appears in searches, there is a lower chance that it will be clicked. Knowing that you have begun ranking for those keywords will help you keep working toward the top of the page. You can use ‘Social Media Analytics’ by Content Studio to check your organic impressions. If it shows an increase in the number of organic impressions, your SEO tests are working if not better perform the tests again.

Bounce rate:

Another important aspect to consider when evaluating your SEO performance is analyzing the bounce rate of your website. The bounce rate refers to the percentage of visitors who leave your site after viewing only one page. By examining this metric, you can gain insights into how well your SEO tests are working. You should aim to have a lower bounce rate. This means that visitors find value in your content and are more likely to explore multiple pages on your website.

To improve your bounce rate, focus on creating high-quality content that is relevant, informative, and engaging. Ensure that your website is user-friendly, with clear navigation and intuitive design. Additionally, optimize your landing pages to align with the search intent of your target audience, delivering the information or solution they are seeking.

Conversion rates:

Tracking the number of conversions is one technique you can use to gauge the effectiveness of your SEO strategy. Start with form submissions, purchases, sign-ups, and any other desired actions on your website. A rise in conversion rates indicates that your SEO tactics are effectively attracting visitors who are genuinely interested in your offerings. It signifies that your website’s content, user experience, and overall SEO optimization are aligned with the needs and expectations of your target audience.

To calculate the conversion rate, divide the number of conversions by the total number of visitors and multiply it by 100 to get the percentage.

This metric provides a clear indication of how well your website is performing in terms of converting visitors into customers or achieving your desired goals.

To include additional URLs for testing, simply click on the “Add Destination Link” button.

Step 3

You have the flexibility to assign different weights to each URL, as long as the total weightage adds up to 100%.

equalize waight

To simplify the process, you can utilize the “Equalize Weights” button, which automatically distributes the weightage equally among the URLs.

This allows for easy adjustment and optimization of the weight distribution for your A/B testing purposes.

Step 4

After enabling the A/B Testing feature, you are ready to save your branded link. Start engaging your audience by sharing your Replug Link

Replug-A/B-testing-Tool

Now analyze link performance and keep using the best performing one.

Note:
It’s important to note that the weightage assigned to each URL is not influenced by previous visits and does not have strict constraints.Whenever the short link is accessed, the final destination URL is selected based on the defined weightage, ensuring a dynamic and varied user experience. However, it’s worth mentioning that if your campaign type is CTA (Call-to-Action) and the specified link does not support iframe functionality, the link cannot be saved for A/B Testing. This limitation is due to the requirement of displaying web page content within another website using iframe. If the source website does not permit iframe inclusion, Replug displays a warning when creating CTA Campaigns.

FAQs

Does A/B Testing hurt SEO?

A/B testing itself does not hurt SEO. It can be a valuable strategy to optimize your website for better search engine rankings. When running A/B tests, it’s important to ensure that the changes you make align with SEO best practices and guidelines provided by search engines. By running tests you can improve your search engine ranking in Google search results.

Most common mistakes to avoid while running SEO split tests

  • No clear goals/ objectives
  • Simultaneous testing of multiple variations
  • Not collecting and analyzing enough data to draw statistically significant conclusions.
  • Not giving the test enough time to run and produce valid data.
  • Not documenting and tracking the modifications that were made and their impact on SEO performance.
  • Ignoring additional outside elements that could affect the test results.

What SEO elements can I test using split testing?

You can test various SEO elements to improve your website’s performance. Some elements you can consider testing include:

  • Page titles
  •  Meta descriptions
  • Keyword usage and optimization
  • Headings and subheadings (H1, H2, etc.)
  • Content length and formatting
  • Navigation and site architecture
  • Calls-to-action
  • Linking strategies
  • Image optimization
  • Mobile responsiveness
  • URL structure
  • Site speed

What’s the difference between conducting a split test and an A/B test?

A split test and an A/B test are two different terms used to refer to the same type of experiment. However,  the term “split test” is a broader term that encompasses any test where different versions are compared including A/B tests. In other words, it refers to dividing the traffic between multiple variations to measure their impact on key metrics. Whereas an A/B test specifically refers to comparing two versions: a control version (A) and a variant version (B).

Arslan Jadoon

In the vast landscape of social media, Twitter stands as a prominent platform that connects people from all walks of life. In this guide, we’ll uncover the secrets of tweeting links with finesse. So, let’s get started!

Question statement:

How to tweet a link without a URL?

When crafting a tweet on Twitter, the URL you include will be initially visible within the tweet text. However, upon posting the tweet, Twitter automatically generates a preview for certain URLs (not all), transforming the appearance of the tweet.

This preview showcases essential details from the linked page, such as a headline, description, and often an accompanying image.

As a result, the full URL is no longer prominently displayed in the tweet, offering a cleaner and more engaging presentation for users.

Here’s how to tweet a link without URL:

Step 1: Log in to Twitter and paste your link into the compose box at the top of your Home timeline.

Step 2: Twitter will automatically generate a preview of your pasted link. Hit the Tweet button and Twitter will share the link without showing the URL.

Important Note:

Not all URLs will trigger a preview; some links, such as specific file types or websites with restricted access, may still display the full URL in the tweet. In addition, you only have 280 characters to use in a tweet. In this situation, you could:

  • Use a URL shortener service
  • Describe the link in your tweet.

Digital marketing is changing at a fast pace. Most marketers try to keep up with the innovation and adapt accordingly. However, some of them miss out on a number of things.
One of those essentials is URL tracking. If it doesn’t ring a bell, then you probably need to listen to me right now. Otherwise, some competitors who’re tracking their links might have a competitive advantage over you.
Since you haven’t had a chance to learn about the basics of link tracking, I’ll start from scratch and tell you everything you need to know.

What’s a link tracker?

Link tracking software is a tracking tool that tracks user activity by tracking clicks and conversions on the links. Further, providing users with an in-depth report on the clicks’ origin, CTR, traffic source, and other metrics.

Why is it necessary to use a link tracker?

A link tracker is used to analyze the performance of your URLs. It is an essential tool for brand marketeers that are constantly involved in sharing links on social media.

With the link analytics data, you can analyze performance on the base of clicks, conversions, demographics, etc.

One of the other benefits of link tracking is that marketers, bloggers, and webpreneurs get the idea of how their content or marketing campaigns are performing. They can also analyze which campaign is outsmarting the other ones.

URL tracking comes in handy in email marketing, social media marketing, affiliate link cloaking for product promotion, social media advertising, and website visitor tracking.

I hope it clarifies these queries. Now let’s head over to some tips about choosing the best link-tracking tool.

How to pick the best link tracking software?

Link Tracker

Here are the features/options you should look out for when picking a link-tracking software for your business:

1. Data tracking features

  • If there is no clickability data in a link tracker, then there is no point in using it. The fundamental reason to use a link tracker is to analyze the clicks they’re getting on their links.
  • Conversion analysis is yet another important feature for link tracking. The URL tracking campaign goes to the next level if the reporting tool could analyze the action being taken after the clicks and record the conversion. This feature might only be able in top-notch link management tools.
  • Real-time reporting refers to reporting actions as they happen without any delay. Most link-tracking softwares have a delayed reporting system. However, real-time reporting is a huge plus in link tracking tools.
  • Traffic source is another key feature to analyze where your traffic is coming from. Some tools have in-depth analytics that track and report what kind of operating system, devices, location of users clicking on your links.

2. Integration capabilities

One of the best features to look out for in link trackers is whether or not it integrates with the industry’s other digital marketing and SAAS tools. It’ll be a bummer if a link tracker fails to connect with other marketing tools.

3. Simple user interface & easy campaign management

  • Make the users feel at home with a simple user interface. Users who cannot find the options on their dashboard screen tend to get bored of it and look for an alternative. So remember that a friendly-user interface is a big deal.
  • Campaign management is a feature that allows users to create and manage URL tracking within the campaigns. It immensely helps marketers to manage and track URL campaigns for different brands. Replug, the fastest-rising link management tool, has a campaign feature that makes it easier for users to manage different campaigns by creating short URLs.

4. Affordable pricing

One can’t choose an online marketing tool without seeing the monthly or annual price. A lot of users choose an alternative tool just because of a high price of an online tool.

5. Reputation

Buyers often check out the reviews of existing users. Plus, they check social media for the product/brand reputation before they put out their credit card information. So, always take a look at the reviews of users before making your final choice.

6. A/B testing facility

A/B testing is the feature that helps users compare two versions of the same thing to see which one outperforms the other. The best link trackers have this feature, allowing users to split-test two or more links to see which one performs better.

Which one is my favorite link tracker?

I have used three link shorteners i.e. Replug, Bitly, and Goog.le.
The Goog.le from Google doesn’t exist now. However, there are thousands of alternatives available on the market.
I’m not going to lie; I have been using Replug for the past three years, and it has been exceptionally good. No offense to any other link-tracking tool, but Replug has been the best so far.
The reasons are multifold. Not only does it provide easy and effective URL shortening, but it also helps in tracking website visitors. Plus, the link analytics makes all the difference.
Furthermore, features like A/B testing, deep linking, retargeting, UTM parameters, and others take the link management strategy to the next level.
The integrations help marketers expand their digital engagement horizon without breaking the bank. Lastly, pricing is affordable, driving the buying decision in most cases.

How to create a tracking link using Replug in seconds?

FAQs about link trackers

Here are some popular questions about link-tracking tools:

Can you track a URL?

Yes, you can track a URL. All you need is to choose a set of tools to make it happen. Firstly, you need a link management tool like Replug to add UTM parameters and then you need something like Google Analytics to track the respective link.

Can I track someone’s location by link?

The advanced URL tracking tools allow users to keep track of the geographic data of the link clickers. So it’s possible to track someone’s location but it only happens when they click or open the URL. It’s quite common in the email marketing industry. Most email marketing softwares report to the sender how many subscribers opened the email and where these openings have come from.

Are link trackers safe?

Don’t quote us on this because it’s difficult to say that every link-tracking software out there is safe and secure. However, most of the reputed and popular link trackers are safe to use. However, due diligence is always required before opting for a link tracker.

FAQs

Why are my Instagram bio links not working?

There could be several reasons for non-functional bio links on Instagram. Some common causes include incorrect formatting, broken URLs, restrictions on certain domains, or issues with Instagram’s platform itself.

What should I do if my Instagram bio links are not clickable?

First, double-check that the URL you’ve added is correct and properly formatted. Make sure it begins with “http://” or “https://”. If the link still doesn’t work, try clearing the Instagram app cache, updating the app to the latest version, or accessing your account from a different device or browser.

Is there a character limit for the URLs in the Instagram bio?

Instagram allows a maximum of 30 characters for the URL field in the bio. If your URL exceeds this limit, you may need to use a URL shortener or consider using a custom landing page to showcase multiple links.
